Start making sketches - on the computer, so that you can see what it looks like on the computer, seeing as it's going to be a website.

Width should be 1024 minus 40 pixels - 984 pixels, hight is 100/120, but because you can scroll and stuff, it's not as restricted as the width.

Don't start to design like it's a page - it's possible to make a long page, but you can have a fixed size if you want.

if you work in photoshop you can work in pixels, in indesign you an work in points - use points as pixels. 72 dpi - 1 point = 1 pixel.

960 is a good width as well - especially to start with, because it's easier to divide.

what happens if your page is wider than you made? are the sizes fixed or fluid? Do you get extra screen/background, does something move, does everything get bigger?

first fill in page with elements, later work on colour/size etc.


Now we'll see if the schema we made is good enough, and then we'll start working individually on the website. We'll each make a design for the website.

In two weeks we'll have a presentation on our proces.

per type pagina een blaadje met welke elementen erop staan. - is ook handig

log in - er uit halen - formulieren - er uit halen, als vast element ontwerpen en dan komt het telkens opnieuw voor. Even met kleur of iets aangeven wat vast is of niet - zodat het echt meteen duidelijk is.

we need to start designing - start sketching (by next week)

- make the schema a little bit more clear, with colour bijv.
- little bit more detailed of what the text will be: headings, links, etc.
- photo's: how many images will there be max. - will it say somwhere how many there are?
- also think of how many comments there will be on a page? will you see only one, or 200, will they be on the same page or on different pages?

in the end you only have combinations - like text+heading+bla+bla and bla+bla+text etc.

same system, but they apply on different pages - browsing of photo's can be the same as the browsing of comments.

So we're adjusting the schema now.

It got too difficult, so we went over to paper.

It's quite difficult to get your head around it all, especially when you can't design it, you really have to see it as a schema and that's pretty difficult.

we zijn bezig met een systeem te ontwerpen, van pagina naar pagina - pagina's hebben verschillende types - welke elementen komen op welke pagina's (beeld, tekst, links etc.) >> wat komt vaker voor/wat is variabel
(aantal/grootte/meer of minder etc.)

kijken wat je echt nodig hebt op de pagina

wat zie je als eerst, wat zie je dan, allemaal uitzoeken voordat je gaat schetsen.
hoe kom je op de site terecht? met adres of op een subpagina of google of wat - moet duidelijk zijn op welke site je bent of waar je je bevindt in de site.

probeer schematisch te tekenen

niet gaan vormgeven - meer in funtionaliteit denken.

als je dat wel doet moet je wel onthouden dat dat niet het laatste ontwerp is.

ga kijken naar die sites - systeem van een site.

>> we splitsen in twee groepen - magreet en lucas / laura en anna we maken allebei een systeem voor een website, vrijdag komen we samen en kiezen we een systeem uit of combineren

Voorbeeld waarom een site niet werkt - het is nog de Beta versie / als niemand iets post, dan is er geen interactie en verdwijnt de site ook.

we willen een forum - direct contact - maar ook een blog, dan kan je een artikel lezen en een reactie (vraag) geven als je dat wil
er moet een lijst komen met plekken waar je niet moet komen (omdat het te erg beveiligd is of iets) - dit kan bijvoorbeeld op de kaart (20 mensen zeggen dat je hier niet moet komen), maar het moet wel duidelijk zijn dat het er op staat. Niet alleen een linkje met 'map', moet wel duidelijk zijn dat er die dingen op staan.
country thing - people can fill in where they are from (they don't have to), then if you want to contact someone from a particular country you can click on the country adn you get a list of all the members that are from that country - you can click on a person and send a message to them/ add them as friends or something similar.
Same thing as country thing, only for tools - people can choose their favourite tools - maybe also tools they hate.

Serial killer
The site from the point of view of a beginner

Well, I’m new at this, I want to know stuff, tricks you know?
So this site, first of all it should have some history stuff, like the best serial killers ever, what they did and how.
The key word here is information. Information, information, information.
Lists of places cops will never come to look for trouble in, places I can buy a gun with no-questions what so ever.
BY the way, you are not cops, right?
You should have in your site some security system so people can log in from a fake IP address, to keeps the cops out.
A place where I can ask questions and get some help from experienced killers can also help me

-History section
Best serial killers in History and their stories
-lists of good locations, techniques
-Security system
To block the IP address of the user
-Expert killer blog
-interactive chat/blog to ask questions

The beginner doesn’t have much input to the site (information wise), he wants to get the information, keep himself anonymous, and have a place to ask question/advise and contact others.

Hey,

So I'm looking at our website from the experienced point of view. What would an experienced serial killer want to find on a website? What would grab his/her attention and what would keep their attention? Of course, the way I see it is personal too, because it's also stuff I like to see on websites, but I'll try and be as objective as possible. ;)

I would like to see:

My own personal page. I can select favourite locations, maybe a map where I can pinpoint the locations I like/I have been/always wanted to go to.
There should be a forum where you can discuss anything you want to discuss - whether it is a question (which is most likely) or whether you want to share an interesting fact.
I think there should be videos - with different catogories. Maybe teaching videos - I could post my own, so I can teach any beginners.
I'd like a website that looks good - you can install cool gadgets; like a "serial killer toolbar", where you can save your favourite websites, photo's, videos. You should also be able to share your photo's and video's easily. Maybe have a chatroom on the website, so you can get in contact with other serial killers. I'd love to hear there experiences.
Oh! What I would love on the website is if people could enter the country they are in/come from. That way you can contact people in, say, Finland, if you wanted to. Or is you're more of a Greek kind of guy, you can contact anyone in Greece! So on the homepage there would be a list like this:

Maybe we could have some webcams on our favourite places.
Anyway, about the website looking good - it should also have some free stuff you can download; like desktop backgrounds. Maybe some cool songs as well.

This is kind of difficult - It's difficult to tell whether I'm looking at it from an experienced point of view or just what I like to see on a website. I think it's more what I like to see on a website. Difficult to keep focused on that your an experienced serial killer - but then again, if all the things I like are on the website, it will get my attention and keep my attention. At least for a little while. I should probably ty to think of it as a website I am experienced with, not as a serial killer website, seeing as I don't have much in common with that.

Ok, so if I knew everything there is to know about serial killing, I'm not really there to learn anything anymore. Anything I do learn is mooi meegenomen. I would be there to share what I have learnt, the biggest mistakes a serial killer could make - we could have that as a page anyway: the biggest mistakes a beginner could make. I could give tips on how to dispose of evidence, what places (the map!), what tools (maybe in your personal page, you can select your favourite weapons, they will be displayed if someone chooses to check out your profile - on the homepage we could have a similar list like the countries, only for weapons), what time you prefer - this doesn't have to be boring. You can have cool graphics to go with everything. All the "extra's" is what keeps peoples attention. I mean, on your profile page, you can have all the usual stuff - what films/music/books/travel etc. you like and then there could be something that then suggests other members to you - members that you could make "friends" with. You can add them, email them, chat with them, exchange information, photo's, etc.. Maybe on the page with the map, if there are 10 people with NYC as favourite location, it could say: this is the favourite location of 10 people! or something else like: 15 people say you should not go here. That would be cool. And then if you click on the location you get a list of the people who chose that as their favourite (/worst) place and why - also maybe wich weapons they used there. Now I'm getting into too much detail again. I think this allright though, for now. I hope so!

Hier mijn lijstje van sites en wat ik er van vond:

www.flock.com
Mooie, hippe site. Het geeft iets cools weer, iets moois, ik denk door de manier waarop de site is gemaakt - kleur/buttons/links.
Het is best een overzichtelijke site, het gaat wel meteen over wat je er allemaal mee kan doen, maar als je er voor het eerst komt is het niet echt duidelijk wat het nou is. Het gaat om een interactieve browser die je kan downloaden en installeren. Doormiddel van dat programma is je browser handiger en kan je er veel meer mee dan normaal gesproken. Je kan foto's en informatie uitwisselen en ook op een leuke manier je favorieten opslaan.
Best leuk dus. Een overzichtelijke site (stappenplan) die er ook mooi uit ziet, met als enige minpunt dat als je er nog nooit bent geweest en nooit iets van gehoord hebt, het niet meteen duidelijk is waar het over gaat.

Eerste indruk - gaat over een radio station. Leuk dat er meteen staat hoeveel mensen een nummer luisteren of hoeveel mensen naar een concert zijn en waar. Beetje saaie website, ik had wat leukers verwacht, maar niet lelijk. Goed overzichtelijk.
Je kan verschillende nummers luisteren, videos bekijken, naar de radio luisteren, je kan ook events zoeken - leuk! Je kan browsen per poster! Hier heb je heel veel aan - je kan evenementen zoeken per artiest, naam, venue of tag en je kan kiezen tussen past events en upcoming events en in welk land (er staat al automatisch Nederland). Er staat ook al een lijst klaar van welke events er vandaag zijn. Bij de event staat ook hoeveel mensen er heen gaan (die lid zijn) en wat voor berichten er zijn. Ik denk dat als je een account hebt dat er dan een ster staat bij welke events er goed voor jou zijn (recommended for you). Je kan ook de charts bekijken - ook met verschillende catagorieën.
Leuke site dus! Je bent altijd op de hoogte van alles in de muziek wereld en kan van alles opzoeken - geweldig.

www.maps.google.com
Dit vind ik zoiezo al een geweldige site. Ik kom hier al vaker om een adres op te zoeken. Het heeft (tot nu toe) altijd de goeie locatie gevonden en ik vind het gewoon super handig omdat het meteen inzoomt op waar je wil kijken op de kaart. Door het in en uitzoomen kan je dus makkelijk je weg vinden en uitzoeken welke route je moet nemen.
Je kan ook webcams bekijken die op bepaalde plekken staan. Zo kan je dus plekken over de hele wereld bekijken. Je kan ze ook opslaan in Mijn Kaarten - ook heel handig. Als je dus een plek moet onthouden of daar vaker moet kijken, kan je het dus opslaan en kan je daar makkelijk heen - je hoeft niet telkens de plek opnieuw in te tikken.
Het is verder een simpele site, maar er is ook niet veel nodig. Je herkent het als een Google site en het is verder goed overzichtelijk - heel duidelijk.

De opmaak is niet erg mooi - lelijke kleuren. Maar verde wel leuk. Ik denk dat je hier veel grappige berichten kan vinden over de kaarten van Google.
Je moet zelf maar kijken, is heel cool.
Is leuk om dingen op te zoeken of even een kijkje te nemen - ik weet niet of ik er zelf ooit iets neer zou zetten, maar nu ik van de site af weet, als ik iets grappigs vind over Google Maps, zou ik het er misschien wel neer zetten ja.

Haha ok, dit is dus een site waar je je kan aanmelden op ieder instantmessaging systeem: AIM, Yahoo!, Google Talk en Messenger. Je kan ook inloggen als Meebo member. Opzich wel handig voor als je niet op je eigen computer zit. Je kan je dan aanmelden zonder het programma te installeren. Het enige rare is, en waarom ik moest lachen, is dat je msnnaam heel raar is, bij mij stond er: Merry Christmas Everyone! - nou heb ik dat volgens mij wel als msnnaam gehad, maar dat was 9 maanden geleden...!! Én ik heb me nooit bij die site aangemeld, dus ik heb geen idee hoe ze daar aan komen. Ik heb het minsten een paar keer veranderdt sinds vorige kerst. Echt heel raar, haha. Maar verder vind ik het wel een handige site. Niet erg mooi, logo is wel ok.
Je kan met individuen chatten maar ook in chatrooms - vind ik wel iets van vroeger, ook al doen veel mensen dat nog steeds. Dat zijn op deze site dan de Meebo Rooms. Op de site staat ook een heel deel gewijd aan als je problemen hebt. Er staat heel leuk: "Don't get stuck. Get help!" en "Sorry to hear you are having problems, but you've come to the right place!" Wel leuk voor als je echt problemen ermee hebt.

Nou, het is meteen duidelijk waar de site voor dient - vind ik heel erg handig. "Movable Type is a professional publishing platform. This is our community." Dat laatste komt een beetje over alsof het een sekte is, maar ok.
De eerste blog die ik lees is heel verwarrend, snap er niks van - MT dit en MT dat - ik dacht dat dit over publishing ging. Dus ik verder zoeken - kom ik bij Documentation, dat is wel duidelijk. Allemaal links met een kleine uitleg waar je dan heen gaat. Allemaal stap voor stap. Je moet wel iets downloaden om te installeren, vind ik niet zo. Je kan wel naar Screenshots kijken - dat vind ik altijd wel mooi, want dan kan je zien wat je in huis haalt.
Ik vind het maar een beetje vaag, maar dat komt misschien ook, omdat deze site mij gewoon niet interesseert. Opzich moet een site wiens onderwerp je niet interesseert wel zo goed zijn om je aandacht te trekken en hopelijk dat het je dan wel gaat interesseren - dat doet deze site niet.

Noou, dat was het nu eventjes, ik zal voor de volgende keer mijn deel van onze site doen. Het dus bekijken van de "experienced" serial killer.

An events and things-to-do site, sponsored by yahoo, offers a wide range of events all around the world, divided by ereas and categories (such as festivals, comedy, family..)
The site gives an option to keep a calendar with the events you are interested in and info about them, the interactive part is that you have the option to add an event, your event will be published and visible to all the viewers so you will get a nice commercial.
The site is clear and usable. Only disadvantage is you have to be a yahoo member or open an account in order to use this site’s services.

wists is a short for web-lists, this site offers you the chance to keep one wish last to all the internet (and not only each to each site, like separate wish list to amazon and E-bay for example), it is called social shopping. The site gives you the option to browse the users as well, so you can see their links and web lists.
Also here you have to be signed in as a member. I don’t find this site very useful although their concept is clear and interactive.

A site who claims to have all the information in the web including articles and encyclopedias to every question you will have, it is divided to categories such as-famous quotes, today in history and dictionaries.
As an information site it is valuable but the interactive part is not clear here, there is no visible option for users to add information or make a comment.

A classical well designed blog site, give an option to open a blog or react on others.
One nice option they have is a search application through different categories. So, if you are looking for a specific topic in blogs, like cooking, you can find those easily.
Each blogger has an archive on the right side of the screen from which you can easily surf to older bloggs divided by specific dates.
writeboard.com
this site give you the option to write text with others, keeping history, old versions and changes that were made in the text, it is explained simply and seems to help people who are working on a text together by distance. There are nice options allow you to compare your original text with a newly version your friends made. Another thing, is that your text is not visible to everyone but only to the people you choose to send a link to.

A well known site, international internet-encyclopedia operating as an open source, offer a wide range of values in many languages and the option to edit the text, basically if you have information on a topic that the writer didn’t have you can add it, you can create new topics as well. Very useful and simple site, although I am not sure how interactive is the average user, I know for myself I use this site only in research and information sourcing but never edit its text.

Via deze site kun je een eigen sociaal netwerk beginnen. Je kunt het elk thema geven dat je maar wilt. Zo zijn er sites voor moeders van kinderen die in het Amerikaanse leger zitten, maar zo kun je ook een site maken om je band te promoten.

Dit vond ik nogal een vage site. Je kunt hier gratis webspread downloaden en zoeken. Ik zou alleen niet weten waar ik dan op zou moeten zoeken, maar misschien heb ik er ook gewoon geen verstand van…

Dit is een soort vriendennetwerk wat zich concentreert op de plek waar je je bevindt of waar je je geweest bent. Zo kun je in contact komen met mensen die daar ook geweest zijn. Ook kun je ervaringen delen. Met een eigen account kun je precies op een kaart aangeven waar je ooit geweest bent en hoe vaak.

Dit is een soort interactief boodschappenlijstje. Een online wekker die ervoor moet zorgen dat jij je afspraken niet vergeet. Wel is het zo, dat je ze zelf natuurlijk in moet voegen, dus dan moet je dat weer niet vergeten…

Dit is een soort zoekmachine voor foto’s. Het doel begrijp ik niet, google werkt beter.

Dit is een algemene site voor het maken van je eigen website, e-mailadres of blog. Je kunt je makkelijk inschrijven, maar hoe de rest werkt, heb je niet één-twee-drie uitgevogeld.


SERIAL KILLERS
Laura had aangegeven graag een ervaren seriemoordenaar te zijn, Lucas wil de wijsneus uithangen en gaat het vanuit de psycholoog/psychiater bekijken, I. wilde graag een beginner zijn. Nu leek het mij misschien voor mezelf dan interessant om er vanuit een totaal onbetrokken persoon naar te kijken. Iemand die wel op de site terechtkomt, maar het eigenlijk alleen maar kent van boeken en films en uit pure nieuwsgierigheid misschien wel lid zou willen worden, maar nooit een moord zou begaan. Is dit een doelgroep om rekening mee te houden of helemaal niet? Ik denk van wel, want sites worden zo onderuit gehaald als er dingen opstaan die niet kunnen…

Goed, laat maar even weten of jullie het ermee eens zijn. I’m sorry Anna, my English is shittie, I hope you will understand what I am writing about. If not, I will try to translate the important things of course!
